Frequently Asked Questions
Other frequently asked questions
Race for Life is open to everyone. People of all genders, backgrounds and abilities can join in and help us to raise money for cancer research. We try to make as many of our events as we can wheelchair friendly, but it won’t always be possible – please check event details for more specific information to help you decide if the event is for you. No one knows better than you what you’re capable of.
Children under 16 can take part too but must be entered by their parent/ guardian or someone who has permission of the parent/ guardian.
Dogs are welcome at some events, please check the specific event details for more information.
Our events are suitable for everyone, no matter what your ability. People who take part in the Race for Life are not athletes or superstars - they’re normal people coming together to make a difference.
There’s no pressure to jog or run, in fact you can go as slow as you like because everyone wins the Race for Life - except cancer.
Check out the “About our events” section for more on what to expect.
Race for Life is suitable for everyone, with no training needed. Just lace up and have fun.
If you’d like to do something to get Race ready, check out our Getting ready for your event page, full of tips for making the most of your Race for Life.
Your entry fee covers the cost of organising our events. That means we can make sure every penny of your fundraising goes straight towards our life-saving cancer research.
Your entry fee pays for venue hire, toilet hire, medals, marquees, signage, on-site medical facilities and your race pack and communications.
There will be plenty of toilets at your event, but there won’t be showers or changing rooms. There may be baby changing facilities, please check with the specific event venue for confirmation.
There will always be medical care on the day. This will be clearly visible, but if you’re unsure simply head to the enquiries tent for assistance.
Most Race for Life events will offer refreshments and food stalls (at a cost to participants), but there are a handful of events which don’t. Please bring your own drinks and snacks with you just in case.
We provide water at all locations but do bring your own as well to ensure you remain hydrated.
There aren’t any lockers, but there will be a bag drop at Pretty Muddy events.
Fundraising is all part of the fun!
Your entry fee only covers the cost of putting on your Race for Life event. The money you raise helps us find new ways to outsmart cancer and create a future that protects the people you love. Head to our fundraising ideas page for some fun ways to raise money.
Unless an event is at capacity, you can usually enter on the day. It’s quickest to use your smartphone; if you don’t have one, you can still enter on the day at the enquiries tent, but we can only take cash payments.
